bKash sees 65pc increase in remittances in 2024

bKash has played a crucial role in driving a surge in remittance inflows to Bangladesh, with expatriates sending funds legally to over 4 million unique bKash accounts in 2024.

Expatriates have sent 65% more remittances through bKash in 2024, compared to 2023, which has also played pivotal role in strengthening the country’s foreign exchange reserves, says a statement.

As a vital lifeline for the country’s economy, these hard-earned remittances from expatriates are boosting the country’s foreign exchange reserves and contributing to macroeconomic stability. To facilitate this, bKash has created a robust ecosystem for expatriates, to send remittances easily and securely.

Currently, expatriates from over 140 countries can send remittances through 110 international Money Transfer Operators (MTOs), which are settled instantly in the recipient’s bKash account through 25 leading commercial banks in the country.

Remittance through bKash can be sent and accessed anytime anywhere.

In addition to facilitating remittance transfers, bKash offers a range of services for beneficiaries. These include paying for goods and services, utility bills, mobile recharges, government fees, educational expenses, donations, and more-all accessible directly from their bKash accounts.

bKash has also lowered cash-out fees. Beneficiaries can now withdraw remittances at a minimal cost of Tk 7 per thousand from approximately 2,500 ATMs of 19 leading commercial banks.
